SWHPN is a membership association that:

• Amplifies the role of hospice and palliative care social workers, to provide the best psychosocial care possible to people facing serious and terminal illnesses and their families, friends, and loved ones
• Advances professional development through education, evidence-informed best practice, social work-informed research, and specialty certification
• Advocates for improved policies, increased funding, and additional opportunities for social workers in hospice and palliative care, to promote delivery of high-quality care in all care settings
